Which guide applies this year
Students taking the SHSAT in November 2026 are applying to enter high school in fall 2027. NYC Public Schools has published the Guide to the SHSAT for that admissions cycle on its Specialized High Schools page.
The official guide is the best description of the test your child will actually take. Read it before relying on any third-party material, including ours.
Using official practice well
Official practice tests are limited, so use them deliberately: take one timed to set a baseline, review every miss, and save the rest for later checkpoints. Our guide on how to use SHSAT practice tests walks through that process, and the SHSAT Math topics guide helps target review.
